Meet the Zarzis - Q&A With Kama

Our stylish and oh-so-colorful Social Media Manager, Kama, hails from Poland, although she’s actually lived all over the world. She brings a raft of experience to the table, and is always ready to try something innovative. We picked her brain for 15 minutes to find out what she’s all about:

 

  1. Tell us how you got started in the world of social media.

 

When I was studying, I read for a degree in Media and Communications, and it soon became apparent that my skills lie between the creative, such as graphic design, video production and photography, and analytical, such as planning, strategic thinking and project execution. Social media management requires all of these skills, so going into it seemed like a natural progression to me. I’m also a naturally curious person with a thirst for learning new skills, which I believe helps me a lot on a day-to-day basis.

 

  1. What makes you passionate about working in social media?

 

The world of social media is all about trendsetting and fast-paced movement, and if you work within it, you ignore change at your peril. My passion comes from wanting to remain at the forefront, so I get a kick out of implementing and testing new tools, for example. The constant change makes it a very exciting field to work in!  

 

  1. How do you feel that your skillset has grown or evolved since you began working for Zarzilla Games?

 

Because of the company being a start-up, I became a one-woman show from the beginning: planning and executing everything to do with social media (and more) as the business required.  I believe that you learn and grow a lot in such an environment, especially because of how quickly things are moving.

 

  1. What are the emerging trends in social media that we should all be aware of? Which trends are you most excited about?

 

So many! The world of social media is constantly changing and evolving – currently I am exploring TikTok as a new, very exciting platform to be on, together with Telegram. Because of the recent changes on Facebook and Instagram, it’s becoming more and more difficult to reach customers organically – on the plus side, you need to be more creative in your campaigns!

 

  1. What makes Zarzilla Games a great place to work?

 

As I mentioned before, Zarzilla Games is a start-up which means there is a lot of scope for trying new tools and ways of reaching the players – I am very lucky that the CEO is open to discussing and implementing my ideas and solutions. I believe this is how all the great companies we know of today started – by listening and trusting the experience of their employees and not being afraid of trying new things.

 

  1. What do you consider to be your core strengths?

 

I don’t take no for an answer – if I truly believe in something, then I will do my best to make it happen. I always stay up to date with all the trends and changes happening around the world and act accordingly. As I mentioned before, I love learning new things, so I always make sure to allocate enough time to either watch a webinar, read a book or do an online course on a new subject.

 

  1. What motivates you to be successful?

 

Success to me is self-development – with that comes a broader perspective, improved variety of skills and higher satisfaction as I strive to do and be better in everything I do, be it work or personal life.

 

  1. They say that, in social media, you have to read constantly to keep on top of new trends. Which publications or websites do you like to read to keep yourself informed?

 

I try not only to read publications or websites but also regularly attend webinars, workshops and conferences related to, but not limited to, online marketing. Slack and Telegram are also great ways to talk to people from the field, as there are multiple groups there where you can ask questions, discuss and exchange contacts.

 

  1. Which figures do you look up to or admire in the world of social media, and why?

 

From the online marketing world, I admire Neil Patel the most, because he co-founded Crazy Egg, Hello Bar and KISSmetrics. He also assists companies such as Amazon NBC, GM, HP and Viacom to grow their revenues. His blog is an endless source of useful tips about everything related to online business.   

 

  1. Share, from your experience, how a company should go about social media in 2021

 

Social media is now used by every serious business, regardless of industry, but how many of them can say they actually met their social media objectives?
 

Unfortunately, many businesses use social media simply because everyone else does. Because social media has become a necessity. However, without adhering to social media marketing best practices, it is difficult to achieve results.

There are so many aspects of social media that must be perfected. However, without a social media strategy, you have no chance. Posting on the spur of the moment, when you have some free time or inspiration strikes, will not get you very far, so I would say that companies need to have a clear strategy in place.
